After suffering a hamstring injury during the Australia tour, India’s premier fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who had just returned to the team after a nine-month injury break, has been ruled out of the series. The Indian team has suffered a major setback due to this decision.
Confirming the reports, the medical team of the BCCI said that the bowler has been ruled out of India’s tour of Australia due to injury. Shami has reportedly sustained a Grade II injury to his left hamstring, which will restrict the Bengal pacer from playing active cricket for about 4 to 6 weeks.

Meanwhile, the player who has replaced Shami is Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Gujarat pacer Jasprit Bumrah had been put on stand-by for India’s series against Australia by the BCCI and it was reported that Bumrah could replace Shami, but, the Indian Cricket Board has finally selected Bhuvaneshwar.
The injury comes as a big blow for the pacer who wanted to make a good impression following his return.
